  • 3 cups (360g) powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue food coloring (gel or liquid)
  • Gold food coloring (gel or liquid)

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar
  • Blue food coloring (gel or liquid)
  • Gold food coloring (gel or liquid)

For Decoration:

  • Fondant or candy basketballs
  • Edible gold stars or sprinkles (optional)
  • Gold piping gel or melted white chocolate for "GSW" lettering

Instructions:

Cake:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine milk, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Stir in the hot water until the batter is smooth.
  6. Divide the batter in half. Leave one half as is (chocolate). To the other half, add an extra tablespoon of milk and a teaspoon of vanilla extract (vanilla).
  7. Spoon alternating dollops of chocolate and vanilla batter into the prepared cake pans, creating a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes before inverting them onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting:

  1. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, beating on low speed until combined.
  3. Add the milk and vanilla extract, and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy.
  4. Divide the frosting into two bowls. Tint one bowl with blue food coloring and the other with gold.

Glaze:

  1. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer.
  2. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth.
  3. Divide the glaze into two bowls. Tint one bowl with blue food coloring and the other with gold.

Assembly:

  1. Once the cakes are completely cooled, level the tops with a serrated knife if necessary.
  2. Place one cake layer on a cake stand or serving plate. Frost the top with blue frosting.
  3. Place the second cake layer on top and frost the entire cake with blue frosting.
  4. Drizzle the blue glaze over the top of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
  5. While the blue glaze is still wet, drizzle the gold glaze over the blue glaze. This creates a marbled effect.
  6. Decorate the cake with fondant or candy basketballs. If desired, add edible gold stars or sprinkles.
  7. Pipe "GSW" lettering onto the cake using gold piping gel or melted white chocolate.

Tips & Variations:

  • For a richer chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.
  • You can use different extracts in the vanilla cake batter, such as almond or lemon.
  • If you don't have gel food coloring, you can use liquid food coloring, but you may need to add more to achieve the desired color.
  • Get creative with the decorations! You can use different candies, sprinkles, or even edible images of the Warriors logo.
  • For a simpler decoration, you can just frost the cake with blue frosting and sprinkle with gold sprinkles.

Enjoy your "Dubs" Delight Cake while cheering on the Golden State Warriors!
